Nursing Bras
DayOne has an extensive selection of high quality nursing bras available in a wide range of sizes, from 32A to 46G. But most importantly, certified bra fitters are available at DayOne every day, without an appointment, to assist you in finding the right size bra.
A nursing bra is different from a regular bra because it is designed either to unclasp at the top (ideally with just one hand since you will be holding the baby in your other hand) or to move to the side to allow the baby to latch on without having to take the bra off.
It is recommended for a pregnant mom to be fitted for a nursing bra when she is in her 36th week or ninth month. Fitting at this stage is more likely to predict the true size needed for comfort and support once the baby is born and the milk comes in.
DayOne recommends:
- Select at least two nursing bras before birth. One bra may be worn in the hospital after the baby is born and the other can be available when the first needs to be washed.
- A sleep bra (a comfortable bra that has little support but will be able to hold bra pads in place at night to prevent leaking) made of cotton or bamboo.
- A nursing tank top. These stylish tanks have built in nursing bras and many women find them to be extremely comfortable and versatile.
- Avoid underwire bras for the first few weeks after the baby is born to minimize the chance of plugged ducts. As your milk supply adjusts, a well-fitted underwire bra is appropriate to wear during the day but should not be worn at night.
