Fourth Month

Four months is such an enjoyable stage as babies giggle and interact with their families and the world around them. Many breastfeeding moms find nursing a bit challenging with such a distractible baby who doesn’t want to stay focused or sit still long enough to feed! Moving to a quiet, dark room and using a nursing cover frequently helps these babies move through this stage and continue happily breastfeeding. Read More...

Sleep is becoming more regular for many babies at this stage. Babies thrive on routine and bedtime routines are especially important. Most babies take at least 3 naps a day and hopefully only get up once at night to eat. DayOne offers an excellent workshop on Sleep Solutions for the 4-12 Month old, taught by experienced sleep consultants so if you are having challenges, sign up and learn how to help your baby improve their sleep so you can sleep better as well.

Fifth Month

Many five month olds seem to be continuously drooling, saturating their shirts and blowing bubbles. Although first teeth tend to erupt at about six months, signs of teething such as drooling and gnawing on fists can appear as early as two to three months. Some babies exhibit all these symptoms and yet their first teeth don’t come through until 10-12 months. Read More...

DayOne offers a free workshop every month called All About Baby’s Teeth that is offered by a local pediatric dentist. Learn about ways to help with teething, and how to care for the new teeth. Many parents find Sophie the Giraffe to be their baby’s favorite teething toy since she is so easy to hold and has safe natural rubber.

Sixth Month

Your baby's view of the world changes dramatically with the ability to sit up. It is such a difference for a baby to change from viewing the world on their back. Along with sitting up, your baby may begin to show signs of readiness to begin solid foods. These babies watch you eat with interest (making you feel guilty that you aren’t sharing!), have good head control and seem interested in more than just milk. Read More...

Just like learning about breastfeeding before your baby was born, learning about starting solids can give you the confidence you need to begin. DayOne’s Introducing Solids workshop is taught by experienced nutritionists and sets the stage for lifelong healthy eating with tips for making your own foods, which foods when and starting the family ritual of eating together as a family. Because many parents are anxious about starting solid foods due to a fear of the baby choking, consider everyone that will be feeding solids attend the Infant and Child CPR class to learn what to do. And then get your camera ready for some fun shots of food everywhere!
